Yesterday (11/29/2022) afternoon, I started getting multiple  "Request contains an invalid argument." errors with the Google Ads API. These were from scripts that are pulling reporting data mainly but also had a similar error when trying to add negative keywords via API.  Below is an example of one of the errors that I received. Is anybody else receiving these errors?

 Google\ApiCore\ApiException: { "message": "Request contains an invalid argument.", "code": 3, "status": "INVALID_ARGUMENT", "details": [ { "@type": "google.ads.googleads.v9.errors.googleadsfailure-bin", "data": "" }, { "@type": "grpc-status-details-bin", "data": "" }, { "@type": "request-id", "data": "esckcK28Yh3t4sHQMLmFew" } ] }

That message suggests you're using v9.

But... I thought Ads API returned a different error when an outdated version was used. Did that change?

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

For our team to further validate this, could you please provide us with the complete API logs (request and response with request-id) generated on your end? Note that this can be requested or provided to the developer handling the Google Ads API transactions when logging of the API requests has been enabled. You may check here and click your client library for the specific guideline to enable it.

For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag. This will cause the tool to include the HTTP response headers in the output.

You may then send the requested logs via the Reply privately to author option. If this option is not available, you may send the details directly to our googleadsa...@google.com alias instead.

In addition, since you are still using v9, Kindly note that this version is already sunset. That being said, I would suggest upgrading to the newest version, which is v12, to avoid any issues.

@Zweitze
Thank you for providing the blog post, this is well appreciated. On the other hand, I could confirm that there's a different error to be encountered when it comes to versions. However, to further check and validate this, we will be needing the complete API logs (request and response with request-id ) generated on their end.

Best regards,
