We create Google Ads accounts for clients under our MCC. At creation we must choose a role for the client:
Admin → client can appeal suspensions, but can also unlink our manager.
Standard → prevents unlinking, but cannot submit suspension appeals.
Is there a role/permission setup that allows appeals while preventing unlinking/removing managers (i.e., “Standard with appeal ability”)? If not, what are the recommended best practices or API workflows to let clients appeal without granting Admin—e.g., temporary elevation, appeal on behalf from the manager, or other options?
Any guidance or official documentation references would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hi,
Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.
I understand your concern regarding the permissions for client accounts, and the need to find a balance between allowing your clients to appeal a suspension and preventing them from unlinking your Manager Account (MCC).
As there is no "Standard with appeal ability" role. I would suggest you check this Help Center article about access levels in your Google Ads account.
The Google Ads API does not provide a separate set of permissions that would allow you to create a custom user role with this specific combination of abilities. The API user access and permission management are aligned with the permissions available in the Google Ads UI.
If you need further assistance from the Google Ads product support team then kindly provide us with the Google Ads customer ID so that we can route you to the appropriate team.
