Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads API support team.

Please find below responses for your queries:

1) Are there any advantages of sending product Id (as this is mentioned as an optional property)? If yes, can you explain a bit more on what advantages we get by sending those IDs.

There are a few advantages of sending product identifiers when sending conversions using the Google Ads API:
  • Improved accuracy: Sending product identifiers can help to improve the accuracy of your conversion tracking, as it allows Google Ads to match the conversions to the correct products in your Merchant Center account.
  • Better insights: Sending product identifiers can also give you better insights into your conversion data. For example, you can see which products are driving the most conversions, and which products are converting at a higher rate.

2) what if the product identifiers sent are not matching with the ones in the merchant center, Would there be any negative impact here?

I would like to inform you that If the product identifiers that you send do not match the ones in your Merchant Center account, Google Ads will not be able to match the conversions to the correct products. This could lead to inaccurate conversion tracking and reporting.

Kindly get back to us if you have any further queries.

Hi Team, Thanks for the reply.

I have one more question on what value to send for the product identifier property when using google ads uploadClickConversions feature.
1. when adding products to google merchant center, i see couple of values being asked in the product identifier section (like ID or SKU, GTIN, UPC, EAN, JAN etc...). would it work correctly if i send either ID or SKU input value (i.e. test-product-id in this case)?
2. If i am not wrong, the ID or SKU property was updated into the Product Identifiers section recently and was in Product Details I believe (please correct me if i'm wrong), so how would this work for old merchant center accounts if i send ID or SKU value in here?

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to us.

Kindly follow this guide on how Set optional fields of each conversion operation in upload click conversions. You may check this article on Best Practices for basic requirements to optimize your product data for performance. Also, you refer to the code example. Please refer to this to know more about the Product Identifiers. You may follow the Upload Click Conversions document for more information.

If you encounter any issue, kindly provide us with the uncropped screenshot of the UI and updated complete API logs (request and response with request-id and request header) generated at your end to assist you better.

If you are using a client library and haven't enabled the logging yet, I would request you to enable logging for the specific client library that you are using. You can refer to the guides Java, .Net, PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl to enable logging at your end. For REST interface requests, you can enable logging via the curl command by using the -i flag.
