I’ve been having some e-mail dialogue with Betty the last couple of days. She is friends with Dr Wos and wants to help. I think it’s interesting that Dr Wos knows nothing about us or has not seen any of the information that Sandra and her committee has fed to DHHS.

Good morning, Aldona. Some inside, personal info for you on Medicaid. The North Carolina Medical Group Managers (NCMGM) is an association that represents literally ALL of the non-hospital providers in our state (I served as their President back in the 90's). There is a standing, active Medicaid Committee and Advocacy Group that has existed for 40 years. They have ALL the information about what works and what doesn't, and have sent some of that to your office already. They have also asked for your time.....they have an appointment with Carol Steckel the afternoon of June 4th and will be making presentations to the General Assembly all across the state on the 5th. If there is any way possible for you to be there with the meeting with Carol, it could be well worth your time. They need to become your allies, and right now they are not. Please consider lending them your ear.
Again, if I can be more helpful, let me know. I want you and this governor to be successful in the healthcare mission of our state!
Fondly,

Fran,
My information is that we will have a much better chance of influencing the outcome of the “managed care” approach by visiting with the members of the Senate ________ committee which are considering the bill. The best outcome may be that the issue should be studied with reporting back for the short session next year rather than hoping for derailing the issue right now.
Hope this helps in your White Coat Wednesday legislative strategy.
Best,
Beacham
