Did you guys consider using meetup everywhere for the summits?

Which one is it Noel? The way Meetup Everywhere works is you can add a
new meetup under the iCities umbrella on your own. If you already have
a meetup scheduled with people RSVPing send me the link and I'll think
about how best to integrate it. I think it would be terrific to have
some iCities programming integrated into whatever you've got going on
in NYC already.

if we already have a meetup that covers the same subject matter, how do we get that event listed as a delegate meetup?

Just a few short months into this project, and Intelligent Cities
delegates span the country, encompassing the best and brightest
designers, urban planners, technologists and civic activists (80+
members now).
Weve just launched a Meetup Everywhere platform so you can get to
know your fellow civic innovators in real life. Heres how it works:
1. Visithttp://meetup.com/intelligent-citiesto find a meetup near
you. Create one for your city if one doesnt exist yet (click Start a
New Community) and host a meetup in a coffee shop, conference room,
living-room, or wherever you see fit.
2. The Intelligent Cities Meetup Everywhere experiment will happen 3
times this year:
2.1. February: During this first meetup, focus on our crowd-sourced
questions which will launch in March. And submit your questions and
vote on others as you talk about them here:http://icities.uservoice.com.
2.2. May: Prior to this meetup, well share more details about the
Intelligent Cities Forum that will take place at the museum on June 6,
2011. Well discuss what can and should be covered in the forum and
integrate your ideas into the program.
2.3. June: Circle back after the forum to discuss what you found
insightful, and how it may apply to your own locality and profession.
3. During your meetup please also consider doing the following:
3.1. Nominate potential #icities delegates who attend:http://bit.ly/icities-nom
3.2. Discuss the smart things your cities are doing, and share those
back to the delegates google group
3.3. Take a picture of the group or shoot a video and tag it with
#icities in Flickr, YouTube and/or Twitter so we can find it. We will
feature these images on the Intelligent Cities website:www.nbm.org/intelligentcities
Have fun!

First a general note, in case there is anyone on this list that does
not know why they are receiving these emails, it's because you signed
up to be on the Central Planning Team's Advisory Body. If you would
like to be removed from the list, there should be a link below
included by Google, but if not, please send me an email and I'll take
care of that for you. If you'd like to review how the plan has
progressed, the most current version is always at
http://opengov.localsummits.org

Hi Phil,

Thanks for another great suggestion. We haven't mentioned it to local
organizers yet since there their current focus is finding
co-organizers for their team.

The short answer is yes, this is one of the ways we will be drumming
up support for the local summits-- organizing local happy hours in
April. This will be done in partnership with GovLoop and CityCamp;
more details to follow next month.
