I've been out of town for a while and super busy, so I've sort of lost
touch with this effort, but I'm curious to know if any events or meet
ups are coming together within this framework. I'm currently at
OpenGovWest in Portland and realized that next week was the proposed
week of events. If any of these are happening, is there a unified list
of events?

Lucas, can you explain if there is more to know behind this:

Hi Phil,

After six weeks, we had organizers sign up in 42 cities in 11 countries (map), but that was short of the target of 100 cities.  The plan is to relaunch with additional organizational partners either in October '11 or January '12.  Currently, I'm working to find those partners and it's looking good.  For example, the USDA has strong local roots in counties across the country, and they are excited to play a leading role here in the US.

Given all that's transpired in the last six months, I'm confident that the opengov community will actually be able to pull off an event of this magnitude.  I'll be sending the draft plan to this list for feedback; if there are folks who would like to be more actively involved in the planning, they should feel free to reach out.

Have a great weekend.

I would still like to be involved too. I confess I thought it wasn't
happening as I must have joined the wrong email list or something, I never
saw any news updates at all. Were they communicated to another forum?

Anyhoo, I haven't done a huge amount but have started some basic marketing
to build awareness and initial interested parties, see
