After a gap of almost a Century a book on nesting habits of Indian birds has been brought out.  This book titled “Diary on the Nesting Behaviour of Indian Birds” is an interesting combination of laborious field work for over
5 years by a layman Chinna Sathan and field knowledge acquired over a lifetime by the famous birdman of  Koonthakulam, Bal Pandi.  The book carries a foreword by Ashish Kothari and is written in non technical language to

Above all this book is co authored by Bal Pandi of Koonthakulam who with his late wife has dedicated his life to birds and is a veritable treasure trove of facts about birds.  Today Bal Pandi has lost his temporary job with the
TN Forest Department and is living in poverty.  This man who lives a life in close proximity to nature and birds which we all envy deserves the support and help of every bird lover in this country.  As a co author he will
receive half of all royalties accruing form the book.
