Greetings Scouts,

Thank you for the lively discussion on Monday's scout meeting. I am glad to hear about all of the great points that were brought up about how to contribute to the community. We are beginning the transition from classroom discussion into community action as individuals.

THURSDAY 3/16, 7PM ONILNE (https://meet.google.com/rcg-vrzj-ttz)
This Thursday (7-8 pm) I will be available online for scouts that need to complete requirement 3 or conduct catch up of the previous requirements (1,2a,5,6).
Requirement 3a. Attend a meeting of your city, town or county council or school board OR attend a municipal, county, or state court session.
Requirement 3b. Choose one of the issues discussed at the meeting where a difference of opinions was expressed, and explain to your counselor why you agree with one option more than you do another one.
You can watch a meeting archived on the Stow TV Youtube Channel. The "Recent Meetings" section has the following committees such as:
- School Committee
- Stow Planning Board
- Select Board
- Public forums
- Stow Conservation Trust
- Lake Boon Commision
- Finance Committee
- Library Building Committee
- PFAS Task Force
- Stow Acres master plan
[Hint: Look at Agenda and use Youtube's increased playback speed]

Scouts are to bring their own discussion points, even if they end up watching the same meeting.

MONDAY SCOUT MEETING 3/20 [10-15min check in]
For the next scout meeting, Please hand in a sheet of paper with the following
Requirement 2b. Chart the organization of your local or state government. Show the top offices and tell whether they are elected or appointed.
[Hint, you can find information for the town of Stow offices in the beginning parts of the Town of Stow Charter and/or the 2021 Town of Stow Annual Report ]

NEXT STEPS
After we complete requirements 2b and 3, please choose an issue that is important to the citizens of your community and find out which branch of local government is responsible for this issue. (Requirement 4a.) On Monday, I would like to poll  the group on what issues they are interested in..

Best Regards,
Jeremy Disch
