Comparative global examples-Where APUSH, AP Euro are heading

I believe this is what the AP College Board APUSH and AP Euro revisions wish to see, more comparative global historiography.

The French in Mali, 2013 and the Sino-Dutch War 1661-1662 in a world historical context.  Am I wrong?
