I regret to say that today's class is cancelled, as I am still recuperating
from my backache. I apologise for the short notice, but I waited as long as I could in the hope that I could make it.
Next week, I won't be here Monday to Wednesday. So we meet on Friday next
(15 Feb.) Meanwhile, I request you to use the time to go through all the write-ups (Sets 1 to 5). Please have your questions (and doubts* !) ready, so that we can discuss these in the next class.

*I have always wondered why our students use the term "doubt" when they
mean just plain "question"---as in "I am having one doubt", instead of the
far more direct "I have a question". (The persistent use of the present continuous tense is another common feature of 'Inglish', and perhaps I'll take it up on another occasion because I have extensive data on it.) DOUBTS are profound matters, such as the existential doubts of great philosophers and thinkers (well, maybe). QUESTIONS are what you and I have, and many of them even have answers:-)
