Namaskar:
Prof V. Krishnamurthy one of our Senior Moderators of the Advaitin Group has just published (17 September) the book 'A PRIMER OF SPIRITUALITY - 108 Qns. & Answers in Hinduism. This book available in paper back for $11,99 at amazon.com. This book has been specially compiled by ProfVK, to benefit those who have lingering doubts in their mind, but don't speak out. I know ProfVK for over 40 years and he is very clear on the subject matter of Vedanta and Hinduism. He has written more than ten books on the spiritual aspects of Hinduism. I am of the opinion that this book will be a good reference whenever a seeker needs clarification on a concept.
I am on travel for the past two weeks and I plan to read this book and would post my review to this group.
With my warm regards,
Ram Chandran

I am very happy to write a foreword to this engaging and informative book on the Hindu
tradition. The best of the teachings in the tradition –found in the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Puranas- are presented in the form of dialogues between preceptors and disciples, known as saṃvāda. This is because unlike many contemporary religions, Hinduism is not a belief-based tradition; rather it unfolds a vision of oneness and an ethical and prayerful way of life that is conducive to assimilating this vision. The truth of the self as whole and limitless can only be gained through self-enquiry, and by the systematic removal of doubts, errors and vagueness in one’s understanding. Therefore, we have a rich hermeneutic tradition based on thousands of years of enquiry into its philosophy and practices.
True to this ancient precedent of the sampradāya, Professor Krishnamurthi’s book is
presented in the form of questions and answers. Neatly organized into helpful subheadings, the book is a handy and practical guide intended to clear common doubts and misperceptions about the Hindu dharma. Professor Krishnamurthi’s erudition shines forth throughout the work without compromising its simplicity and elegance. The Pañcadasī, a highly regarded work on Vedanta says that the best way to assimilate self-knowledge is
through the practice of deep contemplation, through talking about it and sharing it with
others: taccintanaṃ tatkathanaṃ anyonyaṃ tadprabodhanam (7.106). In this spirit, I
commend Professor Krishnamurthi for his work, and wish him many years of brahmābhyāsa, contemplation upon Brahman.
