The sates like waking are illusory - Srimad Bhagavatam

श्रीमद्भागवतपुराणम्/स्कन्धः ६/अध्यायः १६

जागरणादीनि जीवस्थानानि चात्मनः ।

मायामात्राणि विज्ञाय तद्द्रष्टारं परं स्मरेत् ॥ ५४ ॥

Waking, dream and sleep - in these three states the entire samsara experience of man is contained. These experiences are derived from prakriti, maya. So not true. Atma is the witnessing spirit that sees these things.

This is what the Mandukya says:

प्रपञ्चो यदि विद्येत निवर्तेत न संशयः ।

मायामात्रमिदं द्वैतमद्वैतं परमार्थतः ॥ १७ ॥

Dvaita, duality, is Mayika, illusory, Advaita alone is the transcendental truth.

In the Bhagavata sloka the word 'sthana'/abode is said in Mandukya Upanishad thus:

जागरितस्थानो बहिःप्रज्ञः सप्ताङ्ग एकोनविंशतिमुखः स्थूलभुग्वैश्वानरः प्रथमः पादः ॥ ३ ॥

स्वप्नस्थानोऽन्तःप्रज्ञः सप्ताङ्ग एकोनविंशतिमुखः प्रविविक्तभुक्तैजसो द्वितीयः पादः ॥ ४ ॥

सुषुप्तस्थान एकीभूतः प्रज्ञानघन एवानन्दमयो ह्यानन्दभुक्चेतोमुखः प्राज्ञस्तृतीयः पादः ॥ ५ ॥

The Aitareya Upanishad calls these three states '3 dreams':

तस्य त्रय आवसथास्त्रयः स्वप्ना अयमावसथोऽयमावसथोऽयमावसथ इति ॥ १२ ॥ 1.3.12.

Waking, dreaming, sleeping - these are the samsara experienced by the Jiva.

येन प्रसुप्तः पुरुषः स्वापं वेदात्मनस्तदा ।

सुखं च निर्गुणं ब्रह्म तमात्मानमवेहि माम् ॥ ५५ ॥

Whoever gets the experience of sleep should know that he is Nirguna Brahman.

उभयं स्मरतः पुंसः प्रस्वापप्रतिबोधयोः ।

अन्वेति व्यतिरिच्येत तज्ज्ञानं ब्रह्म तत्परम् ॥ ५६ ॥

यदेतद् विस्मृतं पुंसो मद्‍भावं भिन्नमात्मनः ।

ततः संसार एतस्य देहाद्देहो मृतेर्मृतिः ॥ ५७ ॥

He who knows Me, Brahman as different from himself, is in samsara. He is involved in the series of birth and death again and again.

Thus Bhagavatam expounds the Vedantic principle of 'Brahma Satyam Jaganmithya, Jivo Brahmaiva Naparah' [Brahman is the Truth, the world is unreal. The jiva is none other than Brahman.']
