नमः शिवाय ॥

This five-syllabled Mantra of Lord Shiva called the Panchakshara is known to all. It appears in the 8th anuvaka of Krishna Yajurveda, known famously as Sri Rudram "chamakam". Adi Shankaracharya wrote a stotram on the same, which is widely popular. But there is an interpretation that is entirely Vedantic, which is attributed to none other than Sri Shankara's famous disciple, Sri Padmapada. He is credited with the authorship of a commentary on the Panchakshara known as Shiva Panchakshari Bhashyam. It's a short text, consisting of only 23 verses but the depth is erudite. I have attempted to translate this commentary into English. You can see the original Sanskrit verses and the English translation here.

Kindly let me know the errors or necessary corrections that need to be made in the document. Hope this is of value to the devotees of Mahadeva and students of Vedanta alike.
