One doubt former relatives of sanyAsi

One of my friends asked this doubt. Whether former wife of sanyasi (pUrvAshrama wife of sanyasi) becomes widow after the initiation of sannyasa by that gruhastha or after the physical death of sanyasi ?? Whether his son (pUrvAshrama son) eligible to do his last rights or ONLY other sanyasi or shishya should do it and what about shrAddhAdi karma. If son is not allowed to do all these, how can he perform pitru kArya ?? Though for the sanyasi there is no wife or son, for the wife and son he is still husband and father is it not??
I said I don’t know the answer. If anyone knows any shAstric or authentic answer from dharma shAstra please share.

Conclusion
The mainstream traditional position is therefore:
- The marital relationship ends at the time of valid saṃnyāsa, not at physical death.
- The former wife is no longer ritually the wife of a gṛhastha.
- The former son ordinarily does not perform the saṃnyāsin’s funeral rites or annual śrāddha.
- Those rites belong to the saṃnyāsa order, usually through fellow monks or disciples.
- The son continues his own ancestral (pitṛ) rites through the family lineage but does not generally include the saṃnyāsin as an ordinary pitṛ.
These conclusions are consistent with the Dharmaśāstra treatment of pravrajita as one who has exited the gṛhastha order and with the long-standing practice of traditional Advaita monastic institutions.
