Hari Om,

In PAtanjala Yoga Sutra, 3.34, it is said that by संयम on Hridaya, there is knowledge of chitta.

हृदये चित्तसंवित्

By sanyama, we mean dhAraNA+dhyAna+samAdhi.

So, what exactly should be done in accordance with PYS 3.34?

In Taittiriya vArtika, Bhagvan Sureshvara says the following:

पद्माकारो हि मांसस्य खण्डो हृदयमुच्यते ।
आकाशस्तस्य मध्ये यो बुद्धेरायतनं सदा ।
तस्मिन्स पुरुषो ज्ञेयो मनोमय इहाञ्जसा ॥ ११२ ॥

Clearly the hridaya is being spoken as a lotus-shaped physical organ. Within that buddhi resides. And in that buddhi, there is reflection of chaitanya. So, to know Chaitanya, one concentrates on hridaya. So that, buddhi and the reflection therein may be known.

It is a physical activity. Doing concentration on a physical object.

So, it seems that it is the physical heart that is meant. And we are supposed to concentrate thereupon.

Requesting learned members to kindly share definitive finding in this regard with reference, if possible.

Regards.
