In the Sanat Sujatiya Bhashya Shankaracharya cites a few verses from the Kurma Purana in the name of Parameshwara, in connection with Brahman knowledge and the sadhna for it. In the verse Shiva says the aspirant will attain him. Immediately after that he cites from theBh.Gitar and mentions Vasudeva in the context of the nature of the Jnani. It is well known in the Gita that Krishna says that the aspirant attains him.
What is striking is that for Shankara the emphasis is on the doctrine of Vedanta rather than the persons involved there.
