Hello,
I recently downloaded FastSIM2012 beta excel sheet. I want to know how to insert a vehicle model into the already existing models? In the base vehicle dropdown menu we have some specific car models? Can I get any typical default hybrid vehicle like series or parallel(as we have in ADVISOR)? Can I get any documentation about fast SIM?

Hello Swagata,

This list is for questions related to the ADVISOR advanced vehicle simulator. Although I've mentioned FastSIM a few times and pointed people in that direction, there's currently nobody on this list with enough expertise to answer your question.

I would recommend contacting the developers via the NREL downloads page for FASTSim:

Hope that helps,

Thank you Michael. I have one query in ADVISOR. In the simulation set up windows there are additional tests- acceleration test and grade test. I want to know how the test actually works.I understand the input variables that we insert and the output data or result that we get- acceleration in 0-60 mph time, 0-85 mph time, 40-60 time, maximum acceleration (ft/s2), and distance (ft) travelled in 5 seconds. But I am not able to understand how ADVISOR is actually calculating these values. It will be a great help if you can put some insight into it.
Thank you

Hi Swagata,

You can get a great overview of how ADVISOR works by skimming one of the original technical papers from NREL:

ADVISOR 2.1: a user-friendly advanced powertrain simulation using a combined backward/forward approach

Hello,
In part with ADVISOR I have been working on creating a fastSIM.
I have run into some trouble.
When I input the Override mass as 1000kg the KJ lost to drag is greater than when I input the mass as 2000kg.
This seems counter intuitive.
Is this correct?

Hi Claire,

The FastSIM tool is created and supported by NREL so it's best to directly email them.

Hope that helps,

Michael
