ADVISOR as model database for automated drivetrain synthesis?

Hello everyone,
I'm working on a project to do an automated drivetrain synthesis. For this work i am looking for a well standardized component model database like ADIVISOR offers.
My two concerns are:
1) Is it possible to use and initialize single component models to build a custom drivetrain model out of it and run it? (not necessarily using ADVISOR simulation environment)
2) The data the ADVISOR models are based on are not quite up to date.
Does anyone have some experience somewhat regarding this issue or can give some advise for an alternative to ADVISOR?
