Hi,

At St. Fabian we are hosting a “Living Options for Our Aging Parents & Grandparents,” which is being facilitated by Elder Care Advisor, Rita Whitehead on Wednesday, September 23rd, at 7pm in our social hall.  So many families are facing the challenge of this issue that we thought bringing in an expert that is also currently dealing with this herself would be helpful to many of our parishioners.

With the economy being what it is, we are bringing in Kim Kemske, Psy.D., LP; Licensed and Nationally Certified Psychologist, Certified Trauma and Loss Consultant, who will present a workshop on how to cope with the emotional and physical stress of becoming unemployed, AND of being in the position of having to lay people off.  Fr. Brian, our pastor, will address the spiritual challenges, and 2 parishioners will give their personal testimony.  This will take place, Wednesday, Nov. 18th, at 7pm in our social hall.

We are also doing a “talents survey” within our parish on the weekend of Sept. 26/27.  Fr. Brian will be giving the homily at all 5 liturgies, and will talk about how God has blessed each of us with unique strengths and talents, and how we can use those gifts to enhance our parish and to grow our own spiritual life. After the homily, everyone will be given the opportunity to fill out their survey, checking those areas they feel they can contribute to.  Then they will be invited to bring their sheet up with them at communion, and we will have baskets they can drop them in—since “Eucharist” means “thanksgiving” we thought this was a beautiful way of giving thanks to God for the many blessings we have been gifted with, and a visible way of showing how we are all members of the Body of Christ and we all fit in and are needed. I have attached a copy of the survey to this.

I would love to see a copy of your "talents survey".

I have some good material that you might find useful in helping the unemployed get re-employed, and will bring a copy for you to tomorrow's "steering committee" meeting

It won't help now since your "talent survey" is this month, but attend one of Barb Rund's "Survey Monkey" Networking Sessions.  Hugos just completed a "needs and interests" survey of parishioners. The Survey Monkey tool is marvelous for parish use, and extremely low cost.

Thanks for the info, Larry.  I was already thinking of going to the Survey Monkey session, even though ours will be done.

Hmmm, I attached the survey to my note, but maybe it didn’t go through.  I have attached it again to this.  It is in publisher.

Take care,

Celia
