I don't know if we can refuse to serve a client but we have a Pre-GED class in a site (Head Start) that does not permit anyone on probation or parole to enter their buildings. That's totally understood. However, we receive referrals from both state and county parole officers and probation officers so I believe that obligates us to serve them. We've had to add another Pre-GED class in another facility at another time for those individuals. There are no restrictions at this site so the participants may or may not be court referred.

Obviously this is an extra cost but it does offer an alternative time for class that is more conducive to some of those who need the class. And as our waiting list continues to build we at least have space for some of those individuals. Placing with tutors is another alternative and we do have someone who is really lower level and having multiple stresses with a tutor, we're not over run with volunteers in this community.
