Information that I know some of you were looking for... hope it isn’t
making its way to you too late!
Dear advisory partners,
We were delighted to host the Differentiating
Writing Instruction for ABE/GED Students webinar last week. The webinar was
conducted by Mary Ann Corley, Ph.D., principal research analyst for the American
Institutes for Research (AIR) and director of the Teaching Excellence in Adult
Literacy (TEAL) project.
How do you manage writing instruction in a class
with ABE/GED students of diverse ability levels, and with diverse interests,
needs, and learning profiles? How do you convince your students of the value of
engaging in pre-writing activities before they begin to draft their
essays? Strategies for differentiating writing instruction and ways to encourage
student to use pre-writing activities were offered during the
webinar.
