If you are interested in using electronic instruction as part of your instruction this may be a good free webinar for someone in the agency to watch.  Generally, webinars from this group have been especially well done.

Free Live Webinar:

Hybrid Learning Pushes Personalization Forward
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2 p.m. ET
Also available "on demand" 24 hours after the event.

Free registration is now open.

Schools are moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach to education toward greater efforts to differentiate learning for each student. To truly personalize the learning process in more meaningful ways, many educators are turning to technology. They're blending face-to-face instruction with electronic resources, which can be everything from online courses complete with online teachers to digital curricula that enhances or reinforces classroom learning. However, experts caution that this approach must be planned very carefully in ways that maximize the benefits of digital content and online courses. Our experts will discuss how to use technology, especially blended learning, to personalize education and raise student achievement.

Guests:

  • Brent Truchon, social studies teacher, Edmunds Middle School, Burlington, Vt.
  • Kathy Gallagher, language arts teacher, Edmunds Middle School, Burlington, Vt.
  • Themistocles Sparangis, chief technology director, Los Angeles Unified School District

This webinar will be moderated by Michelle R. Davis, senior writer, Education Week Digital Directions

Dear Kim, thanks for the heads-up.  The words we use to describe what we see and do, and how our programs offer flexibility in instructional delivery - are important. I enjoyed seeing the word "differentiated" in print.

Today, I found myself using a different word to characterize what PA Dept of Ed "means" by the 12-hour enrolled threshold.
Established is the word I used to describe a Learner who had completed all of our Intake preliminaries and has become accustomed to site rules and protocols as he participates in instruction.
