Feb. 27 and
March 6
The First Church Book Group will meet Wednesday, February 27, at 7:30
p.m. in the Library to discuss Jason Robert’s A Sense of the World:
How a Blind Man Became History’s Greatest
Traveler.
A Sense of the World tells the story of James Holman (1786-1857),
history’s famous Blind Traveler. A solitary, sightless adventurer,
Holman traveled more than 250,000 miles on five continents; he
experienced and reported on 200 distinct cultures, recording his
impressions with the use of a Noctograph. Holman’s accounts of his
adventures sold very well in England. Using numerous primary sources,
Jason Roberts tells his fascinating story, providing the reader with a
sense of Holman himself as well as the world he experienced. Please
email Anne Stuart at:
ast...@uubelmont.org to confirm attendance if
you are interested in participating.
