Straight-laced nerd Allistair moves into a college dorm with hardcore marijuana users Brett, Larnell and Bachman. Larnell orders an old giant bong that proves to have strange magical powers. When smoked, said bong sends a person to a bizarre drugged-out alternate realm from which there is no easy escape. Comedy legend Tommy Chong (of Cheech & Chong fame) headlines this cult classic weed-tastic romp, now fully remastered for the very first time ever!
This film is not good by any means. It's a huge improvement over a few of its predecessors. I do like Rabbits character and it's a fun idea but as usual not much really happens the entire movie. No one gets killed as usual. The bong is as non threatining as always and can barely be considered an antagonist. It was nice to see Larnell show up considering he's grown on me after seeing him in 6 Evil bong movies in total. Even Larnell cant save this film though. It's completely pointless to watch this entire series when there are so many better films that exist. That being said... I had to watch this series just because it's spawned ten films. I wanted to see for myself why they existed. I am still struggling to answer that. Since i was invested at this point i figured oh hell, guess ill buy the box set of dvds for my collection. And there they sit.
Cannabis College was very educational, with displays of pipes, bongs, vaporizers, medical marijuana licenses, and other cannabis products like teas, ropes, and clothing. We were too cheap to pay three euros to see the marijuana garden downstairs. One wall was covered with small posters showing pictures of the poor families of people imprisoned for what this "college" thinks should be legal everywhere.
So I'm torn. I don't want prostitution to become more and more acceptable from being legalized, but it will happen inevitably so it's best to make it a safer, legal environment. I don't know which of the above is the lesser evil.
Director Tim Burton creates a visually delightful world wrapped around the ho-hum story of 19-year-old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) returning to defeat an evil queen. The movie ultimately owes more to J.R.R. Tolkien than to Lewis Carroll. (1:48) N.C.
