Every developer I have talked to hates developing for Android.  You need to follow Apple's lead
and quit wasting developer's time!

Thank you for the detailed and actionable feedback. We'll get right on it.

Finally, somebody compared Android Studio programming language and Apple's Swift.

I am switching to Swift, Android Studio has no chances to win this battle.

Btw, Steve Groen, I am waiting to hear your opinion about Java vs Xcode, hope Xcode will win!

Xav, I think he forgot to mention how beautiful Apple's products are. You should also pass this on to your designers. Better open a detailed bug to track it.

I'd love to take this opportunity to show some appreciation for the great work that Xavier and his team have done. Being both an iOS and Android developer I can honestly say that Android Studio is far more stable, and more feature rich than XCode.  Because of how good android tooling is; I'm able to develop faster, and produce higher quality products on Android over iOS.  So thanks Xavier for making a great set of tools for us to use.

Obvious trolls are obvious. He didn't even mention android programming language, he mentioned the ide. And seriously comparing java to objective-c is laughable. Changing the language won't make a better IDE.

+1 Android Studio and Gradle make an Android developer happy.

Even while I’m on a fan of Gradle itself and not currently using Android Studio I still want to say that Android tools ecology currently provides far more freedom and thus convenience compared to Xcode/iOS tooling. Most XCode users nowadays don’t even know that is dependency management BTW...

Well, if he took the time to write this 'opinion', then I also take the time to say that although Android develeopment if not my main line of work, when I do it, I use A.S. and it's always been a great joy to use it - even in its earlier more buggy and unstable stages.

So, to Xavier and the team, great job, and keep up the good work!

I've been working with Android for the last four years or so and I must say the advances Xav and the tools team have made are tremendous. The tools have matured a lot in the last year specifically. Android Studio and Gradle have really become a wonderful environment to work in. I'm excited to see what the next year brings.

I suppose every developer you have ever talked to has come from a programming background that, up until recently, had to only target a  320 * 480 px screen eh?
No wonder they hate the variety in form factors and screen sizes and OS versions offered by Android. No wonder they hate the very tools that make this astounding diversity not only possible, but downright easy to work with.

Having used both XCode and Android tooling (Eclipse+ADT and Android Studio) - I can definitely vouch for the power and flexibility of the Android tooling ecosystem. Kudos to Xav and team. You guys are doing a fantastic job.
