It sounds like worst joke ever. 

You removed the possibility to deploy flavored libraries before and now this.

I understand that whole flavor and resource merging mechanism was created to allows easily build several modifications of the app.

We are doing apps for many partners with different colors, logos, strings. I'm curious how will be possible to it without resources merging?

But I agree that potential risk that two libraries will use the same resource is high now, but most of the well-known libraries use some prefix already.
