I'm implementing a custom search and want to use adsense to suggest
relevant adverts based upon the search results. Is this feasible to do
using AdSense technology or does it just work on static content?

I've been looking at the APIs and can't seem to find a way to generate
an ad based on some keywords provided by our application. Am i barking
up the wrong tree here?

It sounds like you want AdSense For Search, but depending on what your
custom search is, this may not meet your needs. The AdSense API does
not provide a method for you to get ads directly. It does provide
methods for you to get our JavaScript ad code which will deliver ads
to your pages.

Reap the rewards of great content.

When you join the AdSense program, you get access to both Google AdSense for search, which puts targeted ads on your search results pages, and AdSense for content, which puts ads on your content pages as well. So you can make money from your content, not just from Google search. Learn more about AdSense for

The AdSense API doesn't provide a method for you to pass keywords and
gets ads HTML back.

I am interested in using my adsense account to do the same thing that
Gordon specified, that is, insert a sponsored links box on my own
search engine (not google or google custom or anything like that). I
know it can be done. Check out www.kosmix.com and type "car" into the
search. You will see Google sponsored links boxes intermingled with
Kosmix's organic results. I know Kosmix has their own search engine
and is not associated with Google. There are only two possibilities
that come to mind on how this may be done. 1.) They somehow provide
keywords to adsense api, or 2) adsense can quickly analyze the
dynamically generated search page and insert relevant ads. I am
skeptical about the later, because I used adsense content on my blog
and it took a couple of days after writing the blog for relevant
sponsored links to appear. Presumably because Google takes their time
about crawling the page. I suppose their is a third option, Kosmix
hacked the AdSense Search to remove the organic Google results, but I
doubt that. If anyone can clarify how I can implement the same
integrated sponsored links from Google into my search engine like
Kosmix did, I would appreciate it.

The AdSense API is not being used for the site in question. I checked
and that site is an AdSense Premium customer. AdSense Premium isn't
currently accepting new applications for the program.
