We apologize for any miscommunication. As the BNR direct below clarifies, some well-intentioned volunteers embellished a bit in an attempt to get these dogs quick help. They will not go to animal control HOWEVER, based on my own personal experience volunteering at a rescue/shelter, dogs do tend to deteriorate behaviorally/psychologically after 6+ mos of being kenneled. Dogs are pack animals who need to be part of a cohesive pack and home.
So while I would still qualify the situation at BNR as an urgent need for good foster homes/rescue group intervention, the dogs are not in any danger at this time. I also learned that food donations were headed up there to help offset the cost for some of these abandoned dogs.
Lastly, I've attached an e-mail that Connie from BNR sent about a month ago that does include pictures/descriptions of some of the dogs that were abandoned. If you feel that you can help any of them, please get in touch with Felicia, the BNR director at bnrdi...@gmail.com. And certainly, still feel free to donate by Paypaling to that address.
Thanks
Jamie
Many of you may have seen emails circulating about Bark 'N Ride Kennel in Rocky Face, GA. saying that we are closing tomorrow (Friday) and turning dogs in to animal control shelters. THIS IS INACCURATE INFORMATION. ALL DOGS HERE ARE SAFE! These emails were began by people who were trying very hard to help us, but the emails have been embellished upon as they went along and now contain bad information. We, here at Bark 'N Ride, did not initiate these emails. WE ARE NOT PLANNING TO CLOSE. WE ARE NOT PLANNING ON TURNING IN ANY DOGS! We just took over the kennel about 9 weeks ago and have been trying very hard to turn it around from the financial devastation that it was experiencing when we walked in. We think we have made some very positive improvements here. We ARE going through some rough times financially due to the large number of dogs that had been abandoned at this kennel by rescues - some for many many months. They all still have to be fed and cared for and most of you know how costly that can be. We appreciate all the wonderful donations that have been made, but feel that they have been made under false pretenses. We are going to try to contact everyone who has made a donation and offer to return the funds.
Those of you who have dogs here now - please don't panic! They are safe! We both come from a rescue background - both having been shelter volunteers in the past. Turning dogs in to shelters goes against everything we believe in! We DO appreciate all of the kind, supportive emails that we have received. Please know that though we are going through a rough time, ALL dogs here are being fed and cared for and are experiencing no hardship whatsoever. Our sole purpose here at Bark 'N Ride is to provide a safe place for dogs from shelters while they fulfill their quarantine needs and wait for their transports to their rescues. We hope that you will all bear with us and give us the chance to continue to serve you in the rescue community!

Subject: Rescue dogs abandoned at Bark 'N Ride
kennel!
Abandoned dogs at Bark 'N Ride need YOUR help!
All of these pups were so happy! They were saved at the last minute from high kill shelters! They were looking forward to having real homes of their own and families who would love them and kids who would play frisbee with them. But the rescues that pulled them from the shelters and put them at this boarding kennel have forgotten all about them. Some of these dogs have been here for months and have literally grown up at Bark 'N Ride. Their whole "puppy-hoods" have been spent in limbo! Please look at these hopeful faces and try to find room in your rescue program for at least one of them. There are more pictures available for any of these pups and we can give you more info about their personalities. They are all current on their vetting but have not been altered.
These are just a few of the dogs that have been abandoned by their Rescues at the Bark 'N Ride kennel in Rocky Face, GA. Bark 'N Ride is a kennel which accepts dogs straight from shelters and boards them while they receive their vetting and are quarantined so that they can travel on to their final receiving rescues. The kennel is very close to having to close its doors because so many rescues have abandoned their dogs here. We are desperately trying to find placement for some of these abandoned pups so that we can stay in business and keep helping to save shelter dogs. All of these nice dogs are taking up spaces which could be used to save more dogs from high kill shelters. Please help us make room for more dogs that need saving!
Crossposting Welcomed and Appreciated!
