Hi All,

Just introducing some of our 'new kids on the block' for adoption – meet adorable Sadie and DJ!

Also, please continue to help us with little Molly (yes, little – just 45 lbs!). She's going on month five of boarding and no one has stepped up yet to be her dog whisperer. I met Molly and would compare her to a child that's prone to tantrums (and has unfortunately received some reinforcement in the past). Now that she's been up at U.S. Canine, she's starting at ground zero – just needs a foster or adoptive home who will simply ignore her snarly/growly tantrums and reinforce her good behaviors.

Also, good news on Kovu, the last Chip In we circulated. His Chip In is now at $270 and Lady the Lonely Park Dog loanded him her excess funds to make up the difference to start his heartworm treatment. We're in the process of lining it up and hope this will put Kovu one step closer to a new home! BTW, Lady is still happy in foster with some potential adopters on the horizon – hopefully we'll have good news on her soon!

Other recent adoptions include Puppy Pants, siblings Coco & Bunny, Gracie (transferred to NE Rescue), Sunshine, Diamond, Sasha, Annie, Carmen, Delilah, Champ and Paducah. And Spider, well, we think he's another one of those darn 'failed fosters' – he'll be staying with his rescuer. Thank you to their wonderful rescuers for taking them underwing and ensuring they made their way to happily ever afters!

Let's see if we can't generate some good news for our three below. With your help, we can do it!

Jamie & Liz

Sadie is a great age at 1.5 y/o - still maturing into the adult dog she'll become, yet not so young that she needs constant supervision and activity. Sadie doesn't mind entertaining herself, but she also enjoys hanging out in the yard or walking with you. She doesn't mind snuggling up in bed with you either. You need only supply her with bones, toys, treats and love to keep Sadie happy. She's approximately 55 lbs and gets along with other dogs who don't mind letting her be in charge. She is also crate trained. Contact Dawn at crazyr...@comcast.net for more information on this gorgeous hound.

With the blend of bird dog and Labrador, DJ (short for Duddy Jr) is the perfect mix of both breeds. He was underweight and tired when he arrived, but he's recovered, rested and the perfect weight with good food and supplements. DJ is a clever boy, and craves the attention of another playful, non-aggressive dog and his human family. He's a perfect gentleman in the house; he will sleep at the foot of your bed or where you designate. He's not destructive, but curious. So like most young dogs and puppies, best not to let your sandwich sit for a second while you run to get another cold one during the baseball game! DJ absolutely loves children, but may be a little too playful for very small ones. A young and active couple or single would also fit his requirements, as he's young and needs a fair amount of exercise. He's not the kind of dog that could be satisfied out in the yard all day alone. He needs the stimulation of a change of scenery and a walk to see the sights. He loves to go for car rides, to the park and on hikes and walks. He's super on a leash (harnesses only), but would need a strong walker if a rabbit crosses his path. DJ will alert you to the activities and try to take care of that "wraskly wabbit." DJ is a quick escape artist, so a tall, secure/tall fence is mandatory. His natural instincts apply to all of natures wildlife in the trees (squirrels, birds & bees) as well as on the ground (chipmunks, mice, voles, you name it). He's very athletic and interested in everything that goes on around him. Dubbed as a "gun dog breed," he wants nothing to do with firearms and told me he could wrangle any furry animal without help of humans. Overall he's an easy keeper and a sweetheart who just happens to be smart too. He picked up on the routine of his foster in about a day and is a respectful member of the family. He's done well with three cats, but craves someone to give him some real play time. He would be great for hiking, spending time at the coffee house, or just sniffing around your fenced yard. He will make an amazing companion to both four- and two-leggeds with his sweet personality and happy-go-lucky disposition. Plus, as you can see, he's super handsome. Application, interview, home inspection and adoption fee required. Please contact Liz at 706-946-6446 or in...@liznicholas.com for any questions.

Note: Molly is in boarding until a foster/adoptive home can be found. She's now been there FOUR months!
Molly, 45 lb, 5 y/o lab, is a hard-luck case who faces being put to sleep b/c she cant adjust as quickly as her environment is changing. In the care of her adoptive mom, Molly overcame a past life of shear misery to include x-ray evidence of being shot at close range. After training, Molly was able to trust again and be a sweet, fun, and obedient girl. But, she's now at risk of regression for reasons outside of this happy duo's control her loving mom's health is failing and other family are not in a position to deal with Molly's relapse. We arranged for her to go to Angie Woods, the Atlanta Dog Whisperer and founder of U.S. Canine Dog Behavior and Psychology Center for boarded training, which has transformed many other misguided dogs like Molly. Molly seems to like other dogs (and even cats), but those in the same household need to be submissive in nature. Could you be the special patient, trainer that Molly's first mom once was? Contact Vicki at vickim...@yahoo.com or Jamie at ja...@doggieharmony.org.
Don't stop now. Keep spreading Doggie Harmony across metro Atlanta!
