It's been way to long, I know. First, a quick announcement for our good friends at the Taj Mahound -- who's fabulous owner has now fostered and found two wonderful homes for Doggie Harmony intakes!

 

Taj Mahound Proudly Presents...
Oakhurst’s 3rd Annual Dogtoberfest -- Sunday, October 30, Noon-4pm

 

Doggie Harmony will be there -- just look for me and adoptable dog, Farrah, among others! Several dog-related charities will benefit, so join us and please spread the word about these plans for a fun-filled day:

• Register for dog costume contest at Taj Mahound (707D East Lake Drive, Decatur GA 30030)
• Participate in Mutt Strutt right after and land at the festival (behind MoJo's pizza).
• Stay put for 1 pm costume judging w/ prizes for Most Creative, Best Group and Best Overall.
• Eat hot dogs provided by U-Joint and enjoy other fun including raffle drawings, doggie ice cream eating contest,
• best trick competition, owner-dog look-alike contest, karaoke and pet photo booth with Atlanta Magazine’s Best Pet Photographer.
• And, our favorite...get your pooch microchipped or get a new pooch that's already microchipped!

And now, we have our usual line-up of dogs in need of great, forever homes -- at least three of them are going to Dogtoberfest! Please help us spread the word to help these guys find their perfect companions. There's a right home for every dog, and just because they're not in it now, doesn't mean they can't find it. We need you to network, network and network!

Daisy's Story...While driving on a country road in Alabama over the weekend, Foy picked up a skinny black dog (now known as Daisy) that was eating roadkill (eeek!). Daisy was a little skittish at first, but eventually came to her car. Foy brought this sweet girl home and has since taken her to the vet and learned that she is approximately 1 year old and in great health, although a little thin at 28 pounds. Farrah's Story...Hiya I'm Farrah, a petite 45 lb, 1 1/2 yr blonde bombshell with the cutest underbite you ever did see! Sometimes, people look at me and say, 'What Is She?' Heck if I know --  I'm just a sweet mixed mutt! Call me a beautiful blonde lab with funny bunny ears, if it warms your heart! I had a rough start, raised on a rope in a backyard for my first 8 mos. Sure, Ive seen tough, but now I know what I'm looking for -- a person to love, who'll love me right back! I'm a silly, lovable ham among friends, but I do require a warming up period with new folks. I am a bit bashful, always trying to hide my wagging tail, but darn it if it doesn't sneak out from under my bum and wag right between my legs! Oh, I've also been trained by U.S. Canine, run by Atlanta's very own Dog Whisperer, Angie Woods and can visit, if ever I need a tune-up. I am an A+ dog who loves to play with others, and then settle in for my nightly snooze. It's OK here in boarding, but Id prefer a cozy home with my very own loved one(s) and perhaps a dog friend too. Maggie's Story...We pulled Maggie from a shelter so that she would not be put to sleep and Little Miss Maggie turned out to be a diamond is the rough. She is approx. 45 lbs., about 1.5 yrs old and about as cute of pup as you will ever meet. She has young dog energy and loves to play, so a fenced backyard or someone who likes to exercise would be ideal. She does well with other dogs and kids. She likes to chase kitty cats, so likely not a match for them. She is a true 5-Star pooch -- a sweet girl that needs a loving forever home. Clarabelle is truly THE sweetest 6 y/o, 12 lb French Bulldog. She was rescued from a local animal control facility where she came in as a stray. She was painfully thin, had been bred several times, had a horribly ulcerated eye (that's since been removed), and had a tumor hanging on her leg that's just been removed. The removal was complex due to the vascular nature of the tumor. She'll require many bandage changes, additional meds and extra supervision.

 

Someone used this girl up and just tossed her away, yet sweet and loving is all she seems to know. The goal is to make her healthy so she can find the loving home and life she deserves.

This wonderful sweet squeaky toy loving dog has been a real trooper through everything and humbly asks for your support!
