Happy Weekend Everyone!
We've recently taken two great dogs under wing -- Buddy, the
lovable, playful shep/chow mix pup and Graycie, the gorgeous, sweet
lab/weimeraner mix. They are last-minute animal control or 'almost to
animal control' saves, BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Sweet Buddy needs permanent foster ASAP.
Beth, who found him, has four dogs of her own and some do not welcome other dog
company. He has been vaccinated and is heartworm negative; he'll receive his
neuter and microchip at Village Vets on Tuesday, May 24. We'd also be willing to
turn him over -- fully-vetted -- to any rescue group willing to
intake/provide foster so please forward accordingly. More details about Buddy
are below.
Graycie has a foster home, but they're headed out of
town for Memorial weekend and WE NEED TEMP FOSTER -- Fri PM, May 27
through Mon, May 30 Noonish. Long story short, Graycie was rescued
three times from near-tragic shelter scenarios. We can certainly board her, but
given her past, we hate to confuse her by kenneling her again so soon after
rescue. Lord knows she has every right to fear anything with steel bars and
concrete at this point. More details about Gracie are below.

Paw-lease Foster Buddy OR Help Him Find

Unlike other strays that have just trekked on by, Buddy
planted himself in the yard of some folks with four dogs already. This smart guy
figured that odds were good on getting help among people with dogs and through
them, he found us. Buddy is a lovable 40 lb shepherd/chow mix that's
approximately 1 y/o (give or take) and is very responsive to training -- an
eager-to-please kinda boy. He's crate-trained, potty-trained and ready for his
forever home. Buddy seems to be good with other dogs and open to
making friends with people of all ages. This cute, curious little fluffball

Beautiful Graycie is bound to bring good karma to whatever
home she joins -- she was rescued from animal control for a second time by us,
only after the first rescue was shut down for neglecting their animals. Luck has
definitely been on her side and now it's landed her a great foster home where
she's learning all about how great life in a home with dedicated caregivers can
be. Approximately 2 y/o and 50 lbs, Graycie is sharing a home with a 75-lb
fur-friend (Shooter) who loves to play and has already shown her the ropes at
the local dog park. Graycie is a 'velcro' dog who likes to be near her
caregiver, so she's super-easy to leash walk -- she's just an all-around great
girl. All she needs is a safe place to call home. If you're interested in more

Effort to Save Precious Rooney!
Nancy Green is an Atlanta dog rescuer and animal-lover
to the core. And if you know Nancy Green, then you've surely seen at
least one picture of her precious Rooney. Last week, she rushed him to the vet
when he seemed too weak to walk; since it’s been an all day/night effort to
support his little system with fluids, steroids and blood transfusions. In the
very early hours of today, Rooney passed over the rainbow bridge where he was
reunited with Nancy’s beloved dog, Geneva.
The final conclusion was that Rooney immune mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA), an unexplained reaction where the body attacks its own blood cells. It comes on quickly and often results in death, even with the very best treatment – and for four days, Nancy ensured Rooney had exactly that. As you can imagine, the vet bills are astronomical. We know that Nancy would give her last dime to help ANY dog – and likely has, particularly in the case of her own loved boy. As a tribute to her little angel, Rooney, we are asking for donations to help pay off his bills.
Rooney is one of Nancy's many rescues – dumped out of the car near her home and welcomed into her pack without question. From that day on, he became her little prince. If you’ve ever seen the quote, “I always thought someone should do something about that, then I realized I was someone," Nancy is that someone for any helpless dog that crosses her path.
Let’s be Nancy’s “someone” this week!
