We received an e-mail on
Monday regarding a dog named Hunter who was at a south Georgia Animal
Control facility, in terrible condition due to injuries believed to be
sustained by a car incident. He was very thin, and suspected to have many
other issues. He had very little time left (actually he was on his last day). We
decided to pull him and try to save his life. He needed a lifeline and quick.
Susan, one of our wonderful volunteers, drove from Gainesville to
south Georgia on Monday and pulled this precious dog. Because of his big
thick whiskers, his name is now Catfish.
Liz N., one of our most
experienced foster Mom's, is working night and day to nurse him back
to health. She has extensive experience in treating injured wildlife, so Catfish
is in the most capable hands considering all that he has going on right now.
Catfish will be isolated from other animals for the next 30 days while
recovering from Coccidia. We can't thank Liz N. enough for all she is doing. His
injuries appear to be consistent with a dog that was chained or tied and dragged
behind a car or truck. Many of the wounds are so deep, they go down into the
muscle.
Right now, it
is touch and go for Catfish and we are all hoping and praying for this sweet
boy. We took him to the vet Tuesday morning , below you will see the list of his
medical conditions. If you can donate, we would be very very appreciative. No
amount is too small as his expenses will likely exceed $2000. He has a
long road ahead.
Liz Mansour went to meet
Catfish yesterday at Liz N.'s house. She took some photos (please see
attached) and has reported that he is the most precious dog she has ever
met. He is so loving, gentle and sweet, even though he is in horrible pain
and such a sick little guy. He is beautiful and looking into his eyes tells us
that he is truly special and deserves this chance.
Please follow Catfish's progress using the following
link. There are photos and daily updates on his condition and new
adventures. Catfish loves to read your comments and knowing so many people
care and are pulling for him will hopefully help him to recover soon. http://adognamedcatfish.blogspot.com/
