Happy Fall, Y’all!
It’s been awhile so I can’t cover everyone new or everyone adopted.
But, I will excitedly share that the summer yielded 19 dog and 4 cat
adoptions! Be sure to check our Happy Tails to see all,
but we want to send a special thank you to the following for joining the
‘Doggie Harmony Failed Fosters’ club. We love this club because we continue to
hear about the great lives they've gained with incredible fosters!
-
Leela - Adopted by foster, Kimberly
-
Graycie - Adopted by fosters and 2nd time DEH adopters,
Lauren and Tully
-
Banjo - ALMOST adopted by
foster, Krista from Taj MaHound, but lovingly with frequent visitors
to her store.
-
We also wanted to update you on Molly, the little yellow lab/beagle
mix and our Chip-In pleas for her. We’re happy to report that Caring4Creatures was able to
offer her the foster home that we could not. We thank everyone so so much for
donations to her training and boarding as we worked out a plan. We're also
grateful to U.S. Canine/Angie Woods for their generosity in discounting Molly’s
program. Molly is doing
great in foster, but still looking for her forever home, so please keep her in
mind And, thank you Caring4Creatures for advancing
her in her journey!
So, on to some newly-listed dogs, some dogs that need fosters, and a
chip-in callout for a special girl. We appreciate you following our dog
(and occasional cat) tales and supporting us in so many ways. Often we’ll get
notes from folks here and there thanking us for what we do and/or sharing
happy stories about dogs that have gone on to happy homes. They
have a way of arriving on the very days that we’re tired and ready to
‘retire’ from rescue – so thank
you for that, you’re truly awesome!

for a snooze. Mimi is a real joy and has a typical Min Pin personality. She's
also house-broken and crate-trained. If you're interested in her, please fill

Archie the Basset Hound/Dachshund Mix
Medium • Adult • Male •
Neutered • Shots Up-to-date • Housetrained
• Prefers a home without young
children
Meet Archie,
an adorable 6 y/o, 50 lb Dachshund/Basset mix who has been trained by and comes
with a lifetime training from Barkbusters (www.barkbusters.com)! He's cute,
smart and very loyal to his people. He also likes to play with other dogs! Did
we mention he's house- and crate-trained? This great guy is looking for a new
home that is more routine and predictable than one with a brand new baby. Hey,
babies aren't for everyone, right? Archie is seeking a new home without any
children and also one with folks that have experience with fearful dogs.
If you're interested in him, please fill out an adoption application at
www.doggieharmony.org (Click Forms) and send it to ad...@doggieharmony.org.
Seeking Fabulous Fosters (And, A Poem for
Inspiration)
A 'LOVE NOTE' FOR
FOSTERS
There I sat, alone and
afraid,
You got a call and came to my
aid.
You bundled me up, with blankets and
love,
And, when I needed it most, you gave me a
hug.
I learned that the world was not scary and
cold,
That sometimes there is someone – to have and to
hold.
You taught me what love is – you helped me to
mend.
You loved me and healed me, and became my first
friend.
And just when I thought you'd done all you
do,
There came along not one new lesson – but
two.
First you said, "Sweetheart, You're Ready to Go.
I've done all I can, and you've learned all I
know."
Then you bundled me up, with a blanket and kiss,
Along came a new family, they even have
kids!
They took me to their home, forever to
stay,
At first I thought, you had sent me
away.
Then that 'second' lesson became perfectly
clear,
No matter how far, you will 'always' be
near.
And so, Foster Mom, you know, I've moved
on.
I have a new home, with toys and a
lawn.
But, I'll never forget what I learned that first
day
You never really give your 'fosters'
away
You gave me these thoughts to remember you by,
We may never meet again, and now I know
why.
You'll remember I lived with you, for a
time
I may not be yours, but you'll always be
mine.

Daisy the Small Terrier
Mix
Small • Young • Female • Spayed • Shots Up-to-date • House trained
While driving on a country road
in Alabama over the weekend, Foy picked up a skinny black dog (now known as
Daisy) that was eating roadkill (eeek!). Daisy was a little skittish at first,
but eventually came to her car. Foy brought this sweet girl home and has since
taken her to the vet and learned that she is approximately 1 year old and in
great health, although a little thin at 28 pounds. Daisy is a very sweet dog and
is getting along well with Foy's 2 dogs, 3 cats and 2 kids. Daisy is spayed and
fully house broken. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Daisy please
contact Foy at foy.an...@gmail.com.
Farrah
the Boxer/Pointer Mix
Medium • Young • Female • Spayed • Shots Up-to-date •
House trained
• Prefers a home without young
children
Hiya Im Farrah, a petite 45 lb, 1
1/2 yr blonde bombshell with the cutest underbite you ever did see! Sometimes,
people look at me and say, Is she a Pitbull? Heck if I know Im a mixed mutt!
Call me a beautiful blonde lab with funny bunny ears, if it warms your heart! I
had a rough start, raised on a rope in a backyard. Sure, Ive seen tough, but now
I know what Im looking for a person to love, wholl love me right back! The
people who rescued me have shown me the best of human kindness and Im a silly,
lovable ham whenever I see them, though I still require a warming up period with
new folks. I am a bit bashful, always trying to hide my wagging tail but darn it
if it doesnt sneak out from under my bum and wag right between my legs! Oh,
great news Ive just completed training at U.S.
Canine Dog Behavior and Psychology Center, run by Atlantas very own Dog Whisperer, Angie Woods. I am an A+ dog who
loves to play with others, and then settle in for my nightly snooze. Its OK here
in boarding, but Id prefer a cozy home with my very own loved one(s) and perhaps
a dog friend too. Like every great love, it takes some training and trust. I
need your patience and attention. If you can give it, I will be a forever friend
and companion. Look forward to meeting you! Love & Flower Power to All

MILLIE AFTER 9 MOS w/
ADOPTER
![]()
MILLIE
BEFORE
Millie is a
wonderful, sweet almost 2 year old 40 lb boxer-terrier mix that was adopted out
in November 2010 looking cute and healthy as can be. Despite thorough screening
efforts and faith that her adopter was going to provide her with an excellent
future, she was recently returned looking not so healthy (just 9 mos later).
Needless to say, her rescuer -- Maryann -- is very upset and anxious to get
Millie back in good health. She is boarding at the vet as she recovers from
mange and looks for her next home. The vet's estimated itemized bill to get
Millie well again is $1,400 (with a rescue discount!). It appears that she has
Demadex mange over 90% of her body, and a related yeast infection.
Millie
is expected to make a full recovery and will be ready for foster or adoption by
mid-to-late November. Please help Millie now by making a tax-deductible donation
through Doggie Harmony, a GA-licensed, 501c3 non-profit. Just click here to go
ChipIn. Alternatively,
you can write a check to Doggie Harmony, mark for "Millie and Maryann" and mail
to Doggie Harmony Inc., P. O. Box 191362, Atlanta, Georgia 31119. You will
receive a Thank You letter to confirm, and we will continue to update you on
Millie's progress.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in
providing Millie with her next GREAT home -- temp or perm -- please contact
Maryann at 404-401-2327 or malio...@yahoo.com.
Maryann and Millie thank you!
Don't stop now. Keep spreading Doggie Harmony
across metro Atlanta!
