Our Featured Pooch – Catfish
Needs Forever Home or Special Foster During Heartworm Treatment (Flexible/October)
|
Catfish is one special dude. He even has his own blog – http://adognamedcatfish.blogspot.com/. This handsome young pup is about 1-2 years old and just beautiful. He’s a purebred German Shorthaired Pointer and now weighs approx. 50 lbs. He’s up-to-date on shots/preventatives, neutered, microchipped and house/crate-trained.
Catfish is one of the most amazing, loving and forgiving dogs we have ever met. His strong spirit and will to survive have made it especially rewarding to save him. Even in horrible pain, with his fur and flesh ripped off by pavement, he has never growled or even given a mean glance – always proving himself to be completely trusting, cooperative and good. His injuries alone were very extensive, but he was also very skinny, with every bone showing. We were not sure he would survive.
After being treated for many different conditions/infections and going through a slow healing process, he is feeling so much better. We are blessed to have his very experienced foster mom who truly helped save him, as well as the many generous donations from our supporters that enabled Doggie Harmony to pay his bills.
Having survived many days and nights of medical care with lots of TLC, he is now one happy boy and really does know how to smile. He’ll soon be strong enough for heartworm treatment so we would love to offer him a quiet environment, where he can relax while he recovers. Catfish can live a normal life during treatment; he just can’t go jogging or running for a couple months while the heartworms die off. Heartworm is not contagious, so he can be with another dog, as long as he’s prohibited from rough play and/or running around. Catfish loves to chase cats, so he can’t share his home with them.
