The one thing I REALLY like about Aptana is that it allows me to open
up files directly from windows explorer, which is something that a lot
of people gripe about with Eclipse. Some will say that there's no
need, as you "ought" be using source control and you've got the
scribble pad for any temp/test stuff, but it's nice to have the
option.
We use Visual Source Safe at work, and while there is a plug-in for
Eclipse, I've found it to be quite awkward. I like that I can r-click
check-out a file in VSS and have it pop-up in Aptana, or if I bring
down a file from a live server I can just double-click it from my
desktop.
So ultimately, after a few short hours of working w/ Aptana it seems
to work and feel exactly like Eclipse, with additional flexibility in
opening files. So the question is...why isn't everyone using Aptana,
is there something I'm missing?
I've installed the Visual Source Safe plugin which works, but I don't
like it much.
I also figured out what was happening with my hotkeys. My hotkey for
insert snippet (ctrl-J by default) was being used by another function.
I removed the other function and now it works great!
