Evening everyone,

Over the past few months the Adogo Jobs mailing list has had quite a
bit of activity. As a group we're always curious as to whether or not
those employers utilizing the list are having any luck.

So with that said, recruiters/employers, how's it working out? Do you
find that you're receiving applicants? Is there a concentration of
skills that you're seeing which have helped you focus your listings?
Are there skill sets that you'd like to see more of in candidates?

What about you candidates? Do you find that you're getting replies to
applications? Are there skills that you're seeing in listings that
you'd like to see the group cover? Are employers being reasonable
with their expectations? Is anyone taking advantage of these
openings?

Any feedback is appreciated as we are always open to taking that
feedback and creating topics for future meetings to help make user
group members more marketable in their careers. Thanks in advance for
your openness.

Hi Brian,

I called a couple of recruiters from the list just to get a glimpse of how the market is doing out there. Not that I need a job myself but just to find out what they have out there. Most recruiters told me that the past 5 months were very slow for ColdFusion whereas ASP.NET and JAVA are HOT. There seem to be a lot more work available for those two other languages than ColdFusion. This is not an attempt to attack on CF but just a comment.

Ravi.

@Ravi - Thanks for looking into this. Although, it's interesting to
hear what are the popular positions right now, I'd still be curious to
hear from employers how well the list is doing for them with respect
to the few CF and Flex jobs they are listing. I've been watching the
Flex.org Job List as well as the RIAJob list and they seem to be
incredibly active for Flex work. If CF isn't in demand, there isn't
much that can be done, so I definitely don't think it's an "attempt to
attack on CF". Thanks for the insight.

Brian,

Maybe we could change the reply-to setting for this list so some people don't have complete dialogs that should be directly with the job-posters going out to the whole list? I would think anyone technical would pay attention to where their email is being sent, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

@Greg - I've changed the group settings so that the user has to decide
whether or not to post to the mailing list or the individual author.
I was setup as a manager so I saw both of these by default I guess.
Thanks for the suggestion.
