You need to SEARCH for solutions by me, Graffiti, MarkATS and several others. The fact is that you will probably have to do a complete uninstall of everything Adobe Reader (5-8) related.

When I try to install a downloaded version of Adobe Acrobat reader version 8 I get an error message:

Error 1406: Could not write value to key \Software\Classes\.pdf\PersistentHandler. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.

This was when the installshield was at the status of: Writing System Registry values.

I have attempted to download the file again, restart the computer and get the same error message.

How can this be solved because I would like to upgrade my version.

Please Advise.
