I recently purchased a laptop that I've networked with my desktop and Sharp AL-1641CS 4 in 1 printer. I have been able to locate a printer driver for Vista Premium 32 Bit, but not for 64 Bit.

Is there such a thing as a generic printer driver that might work?

I appreciate any assistance I can receive. Thank you in advance.

First of all, the printer in question is not a printer with Adobe PostScript and for that matter, doesn't support PostScript at all. It is a GDI printer made specifically to work with Windows with a Sharp-proprietary driver specific to this printer model. This is the wrong forum (and wrong company for that matter) to be posing such a question. Typically the manufacturers of such printers only make drivers for the version or versions of operating systems most popular at the time the particular model is produced.

The printer in question has a proprietary driver from Sharp. If such a driver does not come with Vista, you must get it from Sharp. Contact their technical support folks and see they what they can do to help you.

I apologize for the error in posting. I "thought" my printer was a postscript printer, but I am obviously naive about hardware. I do appreciate your response as maybe now I can head in the right direction.

Someone on another forum directed me to this one; however, he was under the impression that I owned a postscript printer.

Again, I do thank you for your time . . . it was not wasted. :-)
