Cannot get Hollywood FX 4.5 or 4.6 to install into AP 6.5. Running Windows XP. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong. Thanks

Hi Shimon,

Thanks for your reply.

My problem is that AP 6.5 will not recognise that Hollywood FX is installed on computer. It will not put FX into the plug-in folder, even though FX is installed in the Pinnacle Systems folder.
Hope this helps.

John,

HFX 4.5/4.6 installed and running fine on my computer (DV500+ V4.5, AP V6.5, WinXP).

Have you recently done a software update (DV500 V4.0 to V4.5, or AP V6.0 to V6.5 )? If yes this can be related. In this case, do as yohoyoho said.

Note about HFX 4.5/4.6. : for bundled HFX (if it is part of your capture board), there are less effects in V4.6 than in V4.5 (more "demos").

I have the same problem, kinda..
I have a Pent 4, 2.53 with 1GB Ram
Gforce4200, 250GB HD, Windows XP Pro
Adobe Premiere 6.5 with Pinnacle Pro
One. System works fine except when
I try to access Hollywood FX RT. When
I go to the Pro-One directory in Program and the HFX folder, I can use the stand alone HFX, but when I try to access HFX
from the Transitions window in Premiere,
I can drag the icon to the timeline but
when I double click the icon in the timeline to modity the transition, adobe
crashes after telling me that it cannot access the licence tool. The HFX came with Pro-ONE and registered just fine.
I get excelllent output to the VHS and TV Set and other than HFX crashes, not
sure what to do. I also have Studio 8
and it seems to work fine...

Any suggestions.

What about HFX manufacture support? Did they respond with any solution? It looks like more HFX problem than Premiere.

I got HFX basic bundled with Pinnacle Studio 8. I upgraded to pro which according to the HFX users manual (downloaded) works as a plugin with Premiere 6.x. When it would not show up in Premiere I contacted Pinnacle and was informed that there are two (seemingly identical) versions of HFX. The one for studio, even after upgrade, does not work with Premiere. They refused to "fix" my problem and have since added a disclaimer to the website. If you got HFX via upgrade, this may be your problem.

I had that the same problem. Only solution was to get HFX version for Premiere. Maybe there is other way to "force" HFX to work with Premiere (hacking system registry or config files).

I have a problem. At first, the HFX works just fine. But after a crash, whenever i click it in the transition list, it just show a "Assert Failure" message containing the following text :
Failure: thefile
File: C\work\rockford\Wind\HFilterPal.cpp
Line:5631

Anyone with any ideas?
