I am using Premier elements. When I am playing back video, the playback
appears to hesitate for a fraction of a second every 4 -5 seconds making the
playback very "jumpy". I know this group is not an elements group, but I was
hoping that someone might have an idea what could cause this, and what I
might be able to do to fix / help it.

Thanks

Terry

Need a little extra info to start Terry
(1) What computer / memory do you have?
(2) What Version of Premier Elements?
(3) What other programmes are running on your machine? - see task manager
(4) What codecs are you using?

Thanks for the reply,
I don't know or know how to check the codecs, it is a Dell P4 with a gig
running XP home. I don't think anything is running in the background - I am
pretty good about keeping TSRs from running - maybe ITunes. Just has Office
(2007) and AIM. I am leaning towards the vid card. Someone at work today
suggested they had the same problem, and I believe the video on that
computer (my daughters) is integrated - I am going to check it tonight.

Hi Terry,
Sounds like your having a performance problem, or a
conflict with codec. I had this problem awhile back alot of my movies/
clips I was creating in any editing program were playing back wrong
somtimes skips or the screen would freeze for a few seconds which
would end up making the audio and video out of time in some
circumstances. Even inside premeiere the playback window would
somtimes not even load and just crash the program. I fixed the problem
by buying a new machine, I relise this option might not be open to you
so there is some other things you can do. I would start by
reinstalling your codecs and editing software, and possibly updating
your video card and memory. If the problem still occurs, i'm afraid
you will have to update/replace your machine.

I hope this was some help and good luck fixing your movies.

Cain.
