Why did Adobe *change* the damn plug-in folder going from PPro 1.0 to 1.5?

Now I can't get my Hollywood FX v5.1 to work properly nor can I use Canopus VideoFX with an update from them.

Anybody have workarounds for these two? Merely copying FX-HfxEdt5.prm to the en_us folder in premiere doesn't seem to work. Canopus won't even recognize premiere at all.

Thanks in advance.

hi, i've the same problem, so i think that Hoolywood fx doesn't work with premiere pro 1.5 , but version 4.6 does. and Video Fx from canopus works fine, you just need to put the plugin under premiere pro 1.5 plugins folder.

I actually did get Hollywood FX version 5.1 to work in PPRO 1.5 (using a modified procedure posted by Marc Vanbergen)

1.) Install HFX (Let it install where it wants to)

2.) Copy the HfxEdt5.vfx file from Program Files/Pinnacle/
Hollywood FX 5/Host Plugins/Edition

to

program files/adobe/premiere pro 1.5/Plug-ins/en_US

3.) Rename the file to "FX-HfxEdt5.prm"

They all work and render fine. But just like PPRO v1.0... any HFX version above 5.1 won't work.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

As far as Canopus' VideoFX... I still can't get it to work becuase the installer can't find Premiere 1.5 and therefore does not generate any *.prm files. Maybe one needs to have PPRO v1.0 installed first? I will do some more tinkering.

I had no problem with VideoFX by simply coping the file prmVIDEOFX.prm to the Premiere 1.5>plugins>common>AEfilters folder

Follow the same method for Video FX as for Hollywood FX. I copied the plug-in for Video FX into the gram files/adobe/premiere pro 1.5/Plug-ins/en_US and it works just like in PP1.0. I also only changed the extension for the plug-in to prm.

No offense, kash, but you desperately need to study the English language.

The post by RTSteele tells you exactly how to do this.
