Hi!

I have a problem updating my Photoshop 7. Whenever I click the upgrade tab the message appears: Downloading File 1 of 2. Awexfiles.txt But this never happens and I get an Adobe Online error saying:

File could not be dowloaded. There was a problem connecting to Adobe Online, please check your Network settings in the Internet control Panel.

I am connected to the internet (over a network)! I have read about the problem in the Support knowledgebase who states that this problem exists. The solutions there didn't help me though, have tried reinstalling Adobe online a couple of times...

I also noticed that I get the same error message using Acrobat Reader 4. Has anyone had and resolved this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Greetings, Fabian

P.S. A question for those by whom it works, are there updates once in a while or are these rather sporadic and not so vital?

Fabian,

That does NOT update Photoshop, merely the on-line connection files. There
is no automatic or liveupdate feature in Photoshop. All the online files do
is at best let you know when a new version which you will need to pay for is
available - it doesn't even tell you about downloadable patches.

Most of us switch off the so-called "automatic update" feature...

Thanks for the info. It is very much appreciated! I had a thought it would be something like that, too bad, but thanks for the answer anyway! Now I at least know I am not missing out on something :-)

Greetings, Fabian
