Uhm.. Gene, at what point do you get the error?

Does the setup start, then abort?

Some file is locked. Close down everything you can using task manager then try again...

Copy the whole of the Photoshop folder from the CD to the local HDD and try
installing from there.

Gene,
Just found this, I didn't include it originally because I wasn't sure that "safe mode" was still in XP. That's your best bet to get around this 115 error:

* To restart in "safe mode", shutdown and restart XP...
* When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.
* Use the arrow keys to highlight the appropriate safe mode option, and then press ENTER.

You'll need to select safe mode with cd support (or network support) to install...

Len I've had an XPerience :) with the 115 recently. We were installing the latest build of my internal app at work and we were getting this message. It's from install shield. The 115 is "componant cannot be opened for write". Turns out the guy getting the error had an older version of the app opened while he was trying to install. He shut it down and the install went fine. My feeling is that PS's occasional problem may be when it's trying to update a windows specific dll or ocx...

Oh and looking up the 106 that occasionally plauges us around here yeilds: Install Shield is "unable to decompress a file".
