Where's Preferences in CS 4?

I'm just getting acquainted with this software, and everytime I open PS and am attempting to remove previous preferences, nothing opens up asking if I want to do this.

I don't see Preferences in any Adobe subfolder to remove it, so I'm assuming that they are not being deleted for the "lessons" I'm trying to practice...........

Where else could they be so I can manually delete them..Thanks much...mm

Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift just as you start Photoshop. If done right you should get a dialog box instead of the splash screen asking you if you want to delete your preferences

I wish that would happen. I've done this over and over and over, I'm usually stopped by that stupid "Administrator" thing or the need to indicate which drive is first support and 2nd. It just doesn't work!

This is a "rule" of dear Vista. I AM the administrator but that stupid box insists that I say "continue".....Or the need to say "OK" that the indicated drives are correct. Every, doggone time......

Yeah!! After trying it 5 more times, and this time clicking all the keys at once-----the dear dialogue box showed up. Guess there's truth to the thought 'try and try again'......thanks Zeno!.................mm

Then turn off UAC!

Also C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings

I guess you can forget the "roaming"cs4 settingscscc part on 32-bit Vista.

You could just type "cs4 settings" in that wonderful little search box above the Start button.

Do you have Service Pack 1? as that drastically reduces the amount of UAC dialogs that you get. I for one haven't seen one in a couple of months

You're not supposed to unless you're installing new software all the time. In a stable, running environment I don't think you'll ever see it.

Nevertheless, I got so p'd off with it from the start that logical arguments simply don't apply here. It stays off, and that's that.

John, dear Vista is new to me too--thanks for the suggestion to type in CS4 settings in the start area. I'll give that a try. We need UCS because our family uses the machine and I'm tightly guarding what they do and where they go. That box IS a pain.....m

Ctrl+Alt+Shift. I have never gotten it to work in CS4. I followed others advice and made a copy of my prefs to have on hand.
