Need info on creating action to unwarp-unwrap donut images for 360 virtual tour images. The software provided with the equipment is slow, and need to create action so I can process images via batch in PS faster. Here's a link to an actual donut image (big file--1MB):

Here's a link to what it looks like after processing (I need to get the same results in PhotoShop):

Thanks for any help anyone may be able to offer!

Unless you know exactly where to cut and paste, I'm afraid you're going to have to use the utility that was designed to do this. Why would you think ps would be any faster on the same machine?

Filter -> Distort -> Polar coordinates -> Polar to rectangular.

I think this is as close as you can get in photoshop without a pluggin. And the results are not nearly as clean as they are in your sample.

Software to do this is specially designed to work with the hardware (lens mirror kit) that you have.

Edit:

I centered the image more and the results don't look too bad, take a look here...

Thanks so much for the input. I ran this through photoshop with different results. I take it somewhere in the commands you changed the dimensions of the image and cropped the original? As you can see I'm pretty much a newbie, so if you could give me some more details of how you arrived at this, I'd be very grateful!

Thanks

Take a look at Flaming Pear's Flexify plug-in: <http://www.flamingpear.com/flexify.html>

I used Photo´s method, and the result are just as good as in the example provided by Chuck.

Here´s how I did it:

I made a square (hold Alt-Shift while dragging marquee) selection that covered the circle, made sure to have an even margin on all four sides, then I copied this selection to a new image, and ran Filter>Distort>Polar coordinates>Polar to rectangular. The image is now squashed, so I used Image>Image Size with even proportions unchecked, and set the width to 4000 pixels.

Perfect!

Look up Helmut Dersch愀 Panorama Tools. Might be able to unwrap the format (haven愒 checked).

Free Photoshop plug-in available.

Batchable through Photoshop.

1)Use the elliptical marquee tool to select just the image from the center of the black border.

2)Image -> Crop

3)Deselect

4)Filter -> Distort -> Polar coordinates -> Polar to rectangular.

5)Rectangular Marquee Tool to remove unneeded data.

6)Had to rotate 180 Degrees because it was upside Down.

7) Image -> Image Size -> Turn off constrain proportions -> Change the height to 520 Pixels (Give or take depending on your crops).

Edit:

If your images are always in the same format (positioned in the same location in the frame). It is very easy to make an action (Also "Batchable") to do this, as you can see there are only 7 simple steps that take about 15 seconds to go through. No plugins are needed.
