Hello,

Does anyone out there know of a decent plug-in for Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) that allows the user to design garments and then print out patterns for actually making the garment? Any direction that anyone has will be helpful.

I am trying to produce custom jackets, if that helps.

Thank you...

Jon,

Right offhand, I don't know of any plug-ins for Photoshop or Illustrator that do what you want. There are several standalone programs, some quite expensive. One of the more affordable ones is Garment Designer: 2.1 <http://www.cochenille.com/garm.html> from Cochenille Design Studio. There is a less expensive entry level version of it called Garment Styler <http://www.cochenille.com/gs.html>.

Actually, there is quite a bit of software available for clothing designers. You might find some more information at Fitting Tips <http://www.fittingtips.com/>. And there is always Google.

Burton,

Well, I must say that you have given me more direction in just, what 5 sentences, than I have had from about 15 phone calls to various Art Institutes and design schools. I do like the webpage 'Art on Her Sleeve' because that is always an option for me as well. However, I was planning on using a local seamstress to do my sewing work. I phoned one or two (and searched the web for) garment manufacturers and the software that they use; $8K is a little high for a business that does not even have a name yet. This Garment Designer/Styler is a very good place to start and it is very reasonably priced.

Thank you again for your help! Amazing!

Jon
