When I try to open files with the .EPS file extension, I get the error message "Could not open '_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.EPS' because Adobe PhotoDeluxe was unable to parse the Postscript."

I installed the Adobe PhotoDeluxe EPS Parser Update in PhotoDeluxe Business Edition 1.0 with file path: C:\Program Files\PhotoDelux BE 1.0\Plugins\EPSparsr.8by. Even after this update, PhotoDeluxe still gives an error message & won't open my .eps files.

How can this be fixed?

fyi: My OS is Windows XP Pro w/ MS Office Pro.

Bunga,

You need to download the parser fix from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=933 <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=933>, read the instructions prior to downloading the "parser.exe" file, but particularly pay attention to where you download the file.

Open Windows Explorer and path to the folder you stored this parser.exe file in. Double click parser.exe. "parser.exe" is a self extracting compressed ZIP file, which contains two files. When you initate the self extraction, these two files will become uncompressed and stored in another folder.

Note where that folder is and it'll probably be in C:\Temp\Adobe folder. The two files that will be extracted are: "Readme.wri" which are the instructions (a bit inadequate). The other file is also named "parser.exe" but it is NOT the same as the first file. It's the installing utility which will automatically remove the EPSParsr.8by file from PhotoDeluxe\Plugins folder and will replace it with a new one of the same name. This is the fix.

Be sure to save either one of the parser.exe files and archive them somewhere in case you ever need to reinstall PhotoDeluxe again. You'd need to do this again.

Now you should be able to open your Templates and use them.

Thanks Bob, I did everything as you say, already, in great redundance (many times), as well as made sure all Norton products were disabled or shut down. I've uninstalled and re-installed everything, over & over. I've checked & double checked all the file names & revisions, plus made sure there is no file corruption. So, is it just me, or is it possible this is one problem that just can't be fixed?

Bunga,

Use Windows Explorer and path to PhotoDeluxe\PlugIns. Find "EPSParsr.8by" file and right click on it. You should see the Modified date as Nov 10, 1998. If that turns out to be Nov 10, 1997, then you didn't get the new download installed properly.
