I have upgraded to WINXP and installed Photo Deluxe Business ED. Also downloaded and installed the EPS parser from Adobe. I keep receiving the following error message when starting up the program:

Could not import the clipboard because Adobe Photodeluxe cannot recognize the file extension

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling also tried using the Windows compatability utility and this same error keeps coming up.

Any ideas?

Thanks Edward

I, too, have just run into this same problem. I dearly love my Adobe PhotoDeluxe Business Edition and it does all I need but it appears I have to abandon it now because Adobe has abandoned us users. I have read through this User to User Forum and read so many problems and not a single solution. I have tried Microsoft PictureIt! and it had such major bugs, I abandoned it. I don't know what Corel has in this area but I know the problems I have had with WordPerfect and Corel has never corrected a single one. America does not have a good reputation in the world for their software (or other products, either). What a shame.

I have the same problem as well and I have used the compatibility wizard to try and fix it to no avail. The only way I seem to be able to get the photo into Adobe is to use the "Get Photo" tab and then get it from a file, which is a time consuming pain in the neck.

To all having the "Could not import clipboard because Adobe Photo Deluxe cannot recognize the file extension" error: I too have experienced this error many times when working with PDBE. It should not be a critical error that prevents you from continuing to work with PDBE, but it does produce, in most cases, a continual nag error notice practically every time you do something, saving or opening files in particular. The problem lies in what you last saved to the clipboard. Usually I have had this problem ONLY when I have done a "Print Screen" and then tried to use PDBE - This error message will come up every time! For Windows 98 users, just hitting the Print Screen key on your keyboard is enough to place a screen graphic into the clipboard. For Win XP users, you have to have held down the Shift key and then tapped the Print Screen key.

To check what you have in the clipboard, Method 1)Start the Windows Paint Applet> Pull down Edit> Select Paste (if is grayed out, click on the select button with the dashed square on it to select a neutral command)> answer Yes to the resize bitmap dialogue and> See what you have in the paint window. I'll bet it is a graphic of your monitor screen. Method 2)Go to Start> Select Run> Type in "clipbrd.exe" without the quotes> press OK> The Clipboard Viewer applet should start and will show you what you have in the clipboard (you may have to press the "Expand to full screen little box on a minimized clipboard). I'll bet you will see a graphic of your monitor screen taken some time ago.

Users of MS Office 2000 or above have an extended clipboard manager that has a control icon in the System Tray at the lower right of your taskbar. Right click this icon and select "Clear All" to clear the contents, which could be multiple items, of the clipboard.

The odd thing about some of your posts is that you say you are getting this message after you have reinstalled, which should have asked you to restart your system, which should clear anything in the clipboard including any Print Screens. If you run the clipboard applet immediately after restarting your system and you see something there, you have some sort of persistent clipboard object or there is some command at startup that is producing a clipboard graphic object. Try clearing the clipboard (Deleting) before you start PDBE. AND watch out for that "Print Screen" key on your keyboard.

This thread solved the problem for me. The solution was to clear the clipboard. It had contained a screenshot, which had an extension from my app called Greenshot. Greenshot is free and easy to use, so I just have to remember to go to Run and type in clipbrd.exe, and then clear the clipboard. I am using XP and I love my Adobe Photo Deluxe Home Edition 3. Thanks so much for the advice on this thread from Gregg Eells.
