I'm creating a Poster (11" x 17") and unable to place my picture; I'm using Pagemaker 7 and importing an EPS picture in CMYK which is 65 MB in size.

Exact Message is:
" ! Cannot Place this File
Internal Error: Hit Block Size Limit
8601:20480".

Anybody has answers to this I would greatly appreciate.

Possibly problem with my PageMaker 7 Configuration (?), because a friend of mine was able to place the same picture!

God bless.

That seems a huge size for a graphic, unless it's filling the entire 11" x 17" page. Is there any reason it has to be an EPS, a format which is usually used for vectored graphics? EPS files can sometimes be inexplicably large, even when they don't contain photo scans.

If it's a photograph, have you tried resaving it as a CMYK TIFF - 300dpi is usually sufficient resolution. That might reduce the size and allow PageMaker to place it.

You could also try going to Preferences (Ctrl+K) and change Memory freed for graphics to Maximum under the PostScript printing options.

Try clicking "no" in the pop-up that says "this graphic in the linked file would occupy ... in the publication. Include complete copy in the publication anyway?"

Hep, when It says "this graphic in the linked file would occupy.....kb in the publication, include complete copy in the publication anyway?" (like Paula said above) - It will place almost straight away, it will just take longer to post-script later on. No bother.
