I create postscript files from PM6.5 for our service provider. After 2 years of doing this, now when they print them on their HP5000 (same as mine, I use that PPD), they get black bars on the lower portion of each page 2 (no other pages)... Every file, every page 2, different jobs. There are some common objects on every page 2, but my distiller shows no problems. They don't get the bars when I send PDF files (the quick fix we used).

I've had this problem too!! In the paper I work for (a classified ad paper), we flow a tagged .txt file through, it has straight text, but inline graphics as well, if a link to the eps graphic is MISSING, nothing strange happens until we post-script & distill the file, the resulting PDF has black bars the the bottom of the column! What we do is either track down the missing link or delete the ad in question.

I have looked at the Adobe forum and tried the link above. However the properties of the printers and distiller do not have a font tab. Could you please help me and explain what I need to do to resolve this issue. We have Pagemaker 6.52 and Windows NT. Help!!!

Debbie,

The font options may be in a different place. I don't have a fonts tab either, but the option is available in a different place. Try this:

Go to Start>Settings>Printers. Right click to get to the printer properties. Go to the Advanced tab, click printing defaults. Click the Advanced button. Under "postscript options", there is a truetype font download option that lets you select outline or bitmap.

This is where it is on one of my printers here and may not be in the same place on your computer. I bet if you look around in the printer properties, you will find it in there somewhere.
